It’s probably none of my business but I’m going to say it anyway; why are the skinny women barely dressed and Melissa McCarthy is completely covered, also making her the only woman in an actually comical outfit/pose?
This cover suggests two things to me:
1. Skinny women aren’t funny, they’re sexy; and
2. Fat women aren’t sexy, they’re funny.
For a magazine that’s had some amazingly provocative covers, this is just predicable and disappointing, and all three of these women deserve more. The fact that Vanity Fair has struck the perfect balance with Paul Rudd in this image, making him both desirable and silly in the context, is all the more frustrating.
